Photoelectrodes based on earth-abundant elements, FTO|BiVO? and Ni泡沫|Cu?O/CuO/TiO?, were assembled in a parallel-configured flow photoelectrochemical (PEC) electrolyser. Under solar-simulated irradiation, they achieved unassisted conversion of glycerol and CO? into formate (69% Faradaic efficiency), glycolate (13%), and ethanol (32% efficiency). The PEC system operates without external bias, leveraging suitable band alignments for spontaneous charge separation and injection. TiO? passivation enhanced photocathode stability, while Cu?O/CuO junction improved light harvesting and ethanol selectivity. This flow electrolyser demonstrates a sustainable pathway for converting industrial byproducts into high-value chemicals using renewable energy.
